Easter Surprise
After Paigee died, Nana moved to the Central Valley to live with a Sister. After getting all setup and settled in, she started putting together a wall dedicated to Paige. First some history. Paigee was a Tomboy and wasn't much interested in frilly or delicate; unless of course it was a bug or lizard. During one of the Christmas' during her treatment, Nana bought glass Fairies to put in the Christmas Tree thinking that it would make Paige happy. Paigee wasn't happy at all, "Nanaaaaaaaa". The Fairies later ended up around the house, in the Ficus, and other various places.
Early Easter morning last Sunday, Nana was awoken by the sound of breaking glass. Somewhere after her relocation, the Fairies ended up as part of a shadow box, part of the Memorial to Paige. Mind you, the Fairies were carefully placed and secured very well. Nana, for some unknown reason had associated those glass Fairies with her Paige, much like a picture on the wall they had come to symbolize an image of Paige. Now we have yet a new story of Paigee visiting us beyond the grave. Those that knew her well, knew she could be mischievious. The currently accepted belief is that while visiting her family at Easter, she took an Angelic step to once and forever settle the issue with those damn Fairies.
I feel her visits, often late at night as I read before going to bed. I can no longer see her, yet, I know she is often nearby. I want to believe that she misses us as much as we miss her. I hold on to the belief that sometime, sometime in the future, we will be together again. What I wouldn't give up for that to be now.
