PCA/Bag changes

Ramblings of a Father.

I perform the bag changes each day on the 2 pumps we have, I also check the battery to assure that it has adequate power to get to the next day (change). Today's change was uneventful. Adding Ranititine to the Saline Solution went smooth, the Zofran IV push was a breeze too. Today I remembered to flush the line first with Saline, then Zofran, then Saline and finally Heparin. We did have a hiccup during the resetting the PCA pump dosage level. Andrea had to come back out and fix that. Andrea is an Angel from Heaven. Andrea provided cross-training to one of the Hospice Nurses so she has backup.

I'm thinking about requesting an Honorary Nursing Degree from Stanford at some point in the future. God only knows what hiring managers will say when I go to look for a job in the immediate future. They are very likely to ask what additional training and or certification did I receive during the months that I was taking care of Paige. I see it now, they will act like I wasted all that time. What do you bet the skills I achieved will be worthless; I'm a software geek ? Tech Managers can be narrow minded in some situations.

I may be able to also petition for Psychology credits too; this experience has been pretty eye opening. After this there isn't any assignment I feel I couldn't do ( oh, software, social work, nursing ). The coping skills are priceless, deadlines won't be anything after this. This event is very surreal, I'm never sure if I'm awake or dreaming; the head cold is contributing to that I'm sure.

Anyone want a GMAIL account ? Let me know ! I have tons of invites. These days I use it to spell check everything I write. You don't need M$ Word anymore; I can spend more time on my linux box !

Hi Chris,

I go on all day. I have enjoyed all my geekie computer cousins work on this web site. Thank you Chris for having the know to how to put this web site to use. I have so enjoyed all the stories and update. It lets all of us get to know Paige, and all your travels. This weekend alot of the family will be getting together. I wish this were months earlier, so guys were going to be there. Last get together was at my house. I was lighting little cake one by one for 3 birthdays and one for Paige. I was having a hard time lighting the candle with Paige coming around the corner and getting me. I am thankful for thoses wonderful time. You know you are in our hearts. I am so glad her teacher could come over and brighten Paige's day. That is a wonderful gift. Love Ya Kimmie
