Irony
I've been reading a lot lately. I finished "Kite Runner", by Khaled Hasseini last Friday, an ! uplifting story about Afghanistan. I then moved on to "Girl with a Pearl Earring", by Tracy Chevalier, a story of a servant girl working as a Maid for the Vermeer family in the 1800's in Delft. Last night I started "The year of the Frog", by Martin Semica. It wasn't until I was about at page 100 did it dawn on me that the story was about a Surgical Ward that handled Brain Tumors. It is such a shame that it's so common place that the theme didn't register sooner. That was at least 4 surgeries into the book, surgeries that were bloody and not always successful.
When people ask how we are doing, Rosie and both respond, "we are numb." Some day we hope to be able to feel again, more importantly to be able to process information in a more Human way. A very good friend dropped by moments ago, if you didn't know better, you wouldn't even know I was sitting vigil with a dying daughter. Even now we continue to keep our Happy faces on, at least we hope that is all Paigee sees.
