And on the Third Day, Paigee stayed
In the Day Hospital all day. It was a sad day; I guess that is all too familiar
a theme in Paige updates.
We roomed with another Rhabdo victim who has lived the past 30'ish months like us, like we were following the same script. All the same Meds, diagnosed the same month. They presented differently than Paigee but the treatment was identical. Their primary tumor was resected within the first month. We were advised not to pursue Surgery with Paige because of the location of tumor she would have had to have Colostemy. Now we don't need to kick ourselves over whether that was the right decision; resection didn't help here.
To meet a parent who had lived the same journey, essentially every admit, every F&N was so overwhelming. The other child slept all day and we had very little interaction. The other parent and I were initially in shock that we had so much in common, so much we could talk about. I could almost finish their sentences as we shared our stories; our stories were the same. It was like we were meant to be in that room on that day, destined to meet. I'm reminded how much better off we are; at least a large ever increasing mass isn't wrapped around Paigee's Spinal column. This family shared the same painful experiences, all the heart breaks, the ups and downs of the Rhabdo coaster along the shores of Hell.
When I met this parent today, I knew that our souls were connected.
On a more positive note !!!! The tooth that was bumped the other day fell out this evening. "Dad, what is the hard thing I my mouth ? " A tooth Paigee ! Have to make up for all the teeth she won't lose, the Fairy is leaving a $20 tonight.
And better for Paige.. Madse was in for her 3 1/2 hour dialysis. In between blood draws the two girls were inseparable. So from 2 to 6:45 the girls were connected at the hip.
